Hoe Kikutu Manu (Traditional Canoe Paddle)

Contemporary replica of a traditional Marquesan canoe paddle with the beak of a bird (Kikutu Manu), carved from oceanic rosewood. Historically, the Hoe Kikutu Manu served both as a paddle and as a weapon during tribal battles. With its unique extension at the bottom, designed for pushing through shallow water and defending against enemies, this 120 cm piece combines functionality with cultural significance. The paddle's head is adorned with traditional Marquesan symbols -> symbolizing the preservation and protection of the community.
