Hoe Mata Tiki (Canoe Paddle)

Marquesan canoe paddle adorned with the eyes of a Tiki (Mata Tiki) - and carved in oceanic rosewood from the island of Nuku Hiva. Tiki represents etua (god) deified ancestors whose supernatural powers sustain and protect the community – and the eyes were the most supernaturally powerful element of the face. The grip of the canoe paddle is designed in the form of a manta ray.

Size: 70 cm

Shipping is free.

Hoe Mata Tiki was created for the art exhibition. Delivery will be arranged following the art exhibition, which concludes on December 20, 2023.
