Finely carved Marquesan bowl ∿ Te Henua Enana

This finely carved coconut bowl displays traditional Marquesan symbols and motifs. There's a symbol of a manta ray (wisdom and trust), symbols of etua (divinity) as well as several layers of "a fence" around the symbols to strengthen the protection. To protect is very important throughout the Marquesas and it usually refers to family, identity, tradition, land, and nature.

Elegant and eco-friendly, this hand-carved coconut bowl is great for the environment, and it displays unique pieces of history and culture from the beautiful South Pacific island of Nuku Hiva.
