Finely carved Marquesan bowl
This finely carved Marquesan coconut bowl carries ancestral symbols of the small village of Hakaui on the island of Nuku Hiva. There's a symbol of a manta ray that lives in the bay of the village, etua (god's hands), Marquesan symbol peka as well as several layers of a fence around the symbols to strengthen the protection. "To protect" is very important throughout Marquesas and it usually refers to family, tradition, land, and nature.
Every part of our island comes with its own authentic tribal carving symbols and this coconut bowl displays the motifs of its tribe Komai Kea from Hakaui.
Elegant, eco-friendly, sustainable and hand-carved coconut bowl is great for the environment and it displays a unique story from an ancient tribe of the South Pacific.
