Haha 'ua (manta ray)

The Marquesas Islands are home to the incredible creature called the manta ray. In the Marquesan culture, the manta ray symbolizes wisdom and is considered people's protective animal.

This manta was carved in oceanic rosewood on Nuku Hiva Island. The tail was made out of the cow horn. Size: 19 cm
