Koata akau (Wooden spiral)
An elegant wooden spiral (koata akau in Marquesan language) was hand-carved in oceanic rosewood from Nuku Hiva Island. The spiral symbolizes new life, growth, strength, and peace. Koata akau was adorned with the traditional Marquesan motifs for protection.
