Mata Tiki
This elegant and charming piece of jewelry displays the fundamental design element in Marquesan culture – Mata Tiki (the eye of a Tiki). Tiki represents etua (god) deified ancestors whose supernatural powers sustain and protect the community – and the eyes were the most supernaturally powerful element of the face. Tiki also means creativity, fertility, and abundance. This unique pendant combines the properties of both an amulet and a talisman into one piece.
Mata Tiki was hand-carved out of oceania rosewood from the Marquesan Island of Nuku Hiva and it comes with an elegant, adjustable black line.
