Tiki Mata Oumati

Regular price $400.00 $0.00

Tiki Mata Oumati was hand-carved in oceania rosewood and it displays traditional Marquesan symbols for protection. The insides of his eyes were carved with the symbol of the Sun "Oumati" and that's how he got his name. "Tiki Mata Oumati" literally means "Sunny eyes Tiki" when translated from the Marquesan language.

Size: 35cm

Term “Tiki” is complex and multilayered in Marquesan culture. It generally represents deified ancestors or sometimes gods. Tikis are always present at important ceremonies. Marquesans keep them inside and outside of their houses, wear them as tattoos and pendants.

Every Tiki is hand-carved and no two Tikis are exactly alike. They often serve to mark the boundaries of sacred or significant sites. Whether you're enhancing your home, your business, or event with a unique piece of art or hoping to bring good fortune and blessings to your settings, we offer the authentic quality and variety of Tiki that you're looking for.
