Metau Tupuna

Metau (hook) in Marquesan language – is one of the most recognizable symbols of Polynesia. It contains significant cultural meaning as well as a sense of belonging to Oceania. The hook is a symbol of energy, strength, prosperity, abundance, and good luck. Since the Polynesian livelihood is very much dependent on the ocean waters, the fish hook necklace signifies deep respect and love towards the oceans.

This ancestral hook was hand-carved in oceania rosewood from the Marquesan Island of Nuku Hiva and it comes with an elegant, adjustable black line. It’s possible to request a custom order and have it made especially for you. For more details, contact us at hello@cannibal-art.com
