Whale shark

Even though they are called "whale sharks", these gentle giants of the ocean are not actually whales, but the world's LARGEST fish. Inspired by this majestic marine animal, Tangy hand-carved a whale shark in oceanic walnut (tou) and adorned it with the Marquesan ancestral symbols for strength and protection.

Not to be mistaken, the eyes of a Tiki "Mata Tiki", which are the most powerful part of a Tiki, are placed on the top of the whale shark's head for protection - while its actual eyes are carved at the corner of its head.
