U'u (Marquesan war club)

U'U, a traditional Marquesan war club, held a dual significance as both a formidable weapon in close combat and a revered symbol of high status within Marquesan society. Warriors cherished it as their most prized possession. This specific u'u was handcrafted by Tangy Taupotini, a sixth-generation descendant of Chief Temoana and his wife Vaekehu. Carved from a single piece of oceanic rosewood sourced from the Hakaui Valley on Nuku Hiva Island, this weapon embodies both artistry and heritage.

Dimensions: 80 cm.
