Hahati kaki (Marquesan weapon)
"Hahati Kaki" is the name of an ancient Marquesan weapon that was used to break the enemy's neck.
This one was made from two materials - a bone and an oceanic rosewood from Nuku Hiva. It's adorned with two Tikis on the top and two mata tiki (the eyes of a Tiki) on each side of the bone for protection. Tiki represents etua (god) deified ancestors whose supernatural powers sustain and protect the community – and the eyes were the most supernaturally powerful element of the face.
Dimensions: 91cm x 15cm
