Koueva (Warrior's hanger)
"Koueva" is the name of an ancient Marquesan warrior's hanger used for the enemies of the tribe. It represents one of the strongest historical elements of fascinating Marquesan culture. This koueva was hand-carved by Tangy in oceanic rosewood, mixed with the cow’s horn and adorned with the eyes of a Tiki on its front and backside. It was decorated with bird’s feathers, kokuu seed, and the tooth of a wild boar. All-natural materials from Nuku Hiva Island. Koueva is a beautiful decorative piece that captures a different time in Marquesan history and plays with the imagination. It makes an excellent storytelling interior decor.
