Hoe Poko Tiki (Canoe Paddle)
Discover our contemporary replica of a Marquesan canoe paddle with the head of a Tiki (Poko Tiki), carved in oceanic walnut. Tiki represents etua (god) deified ancestors whose supernatural powers sustain and protect the community. These types of paddles were also made as ceremonial items. With its unique extension on the bottom, made for pushing along in shallow water, this 66 cm piece seamlessly blends functionality with cultural significance.
