Popoi Pounder (Keà Tuki Popoi)

A Popoi Pounder (Keà Tuki Popoi) is a traditional tool used by the Native Marquesans to pound breadfruit into a smooth, sticky paste known as "popoi." Popoi is a staple food in the Marquesan culture, and its preparation is labor-intensive. The act of pounding popoi in the traditional manner is still practiced and is highly valued for its cultural and ceremonial significance.

This Popoi Pounder has been handcrafted out of a scarce stone known as flower stone which is one of the rarest stones in the world. A true treasure and wealth for us Marquesans, this incredible flower stone exists only in two places in the world: Brazil and Ua Pou Island (Marquesas Archipelago)

Size: 18 cm
